What are the International Package Design Awards?
The International Package Design Awards showcases and recognizes innovative packaging in the cosmetic, fragrance, skin care, and personal care industries.
When are the International Package Design Awards Announced?
Finalists in each category are announced in a press release distributed on PR Newswire and through other trade media in August. The Winners in each Category will be announced during HBA Global Expo, September 28-30, 2010 in the IPDA Showcase exhibit sponsored by Happi and Beauty Packaging magazine at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York City. Date and time will be announced.
Who is Eligible to Submit an Entry for the IPDA?
Entries will be accepted from designers, suppliers, and marketing companies from small as well as large companies, and from anywhere in the world. The IPDA is a tribute to our judges that the awards are granted based on the merits of the package, rather than the market strength of the company.
What is the Procedure and Criteria in Selecting an IPDA Finalist and Category Leader?
All entries are submitted to the Committee of 100, composed of designers, suppliers and marketing companies and trade media. (Space permitting, new members from these groups are eligible to be a part of the Committee of 100 – you may indicate future interest by emailing us at ascully@hbaexpo.com.)
Committee of 100 selects the finalists, up to four in each category, and base their judging on the following criteria:
Originality
Design Concept
Creative use of new materials, components and decorating processes
Technical Competency
Effective Brand Messaging
What is the Timeline for the IPDA?
Entry Deadline: June 11, 2011 – $275 per entry
Finalist Judging will be completed by end of July.
Finalist will be notified by the first week of August.
Winners are announced during HBA Global Expo, September 28-30, 2010 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
*If you are selected as an IPDA Finalist you will need to provide actual full-size samples for promotional and judging purposes in early August
How Do I Enter a Submission?
The submission process is a 3 Step Process:
Step 1: Submit Content and Product Information
Step 2: Upload Product Image
Step 3: Pay Submission Fee
Note: It is essential that the photograph uploaded be the best possible digital representation of the package. This is all that the "Committee of 100" will see.
What is the definition of the "Mass" and "Prestige" sub-categories?
The Mass and Prestige sub-categories are defined in terms of price point and distribution.
Entries in the Mass category are considered products that have launched in a distribution outlet that is a mass, food or drug retailer. Examples of this type of distribution include, but not limited to: Drug stores, mass merchandisers, warehouse centers, pharmacy chains, etc.
Entries in the Prestige category are considered products that have launched in a distribution outlet that is NOT a mass, food or drug retailer. Examples of this type of distribution include, but not limited to: Department Stores, Spas, Salons, Specialty Stores and Television, etc.
How Are the IPDA Awards Promoted?
The International Package Design Awards (IPDA) are promoted in HBA direct mail pieces, e-mails, and through press releases distributed through PR Newswire. In addition, the Finalists and Category Winners are listed on the HBA Global Expo website in the Awards Section.
Winners are announced during HBA Global Expo, September 28-30, 2010 at the Javits Center in New York.
During HBA Global Expo, the IPDA Finalists and Category Winners are displayed in the HBA IPDA Showcase on the exhibit floor.
The IPDA Awards are featured in the on-site HBA Show News, Happi, Beauty Packaging and Package Design magazine as well as other media.
What Type of Payment is Accepted?
American Express, Visa, MasterCard and check are accepted. Please do not send cash.

Checks must be received by Monday, June 14, 2010 or your entry will be disqualified.
